What is open and closed

  • Lee County government offices: closed Monday, Sept. 6, 2027, under the county’s holiday schedule.
  • LeeTran: no bus service on Labor Day, according to its holiday list. Customer service: 239-533-8726.
  • The School District of Lee County: closed for Labor Day on its 2027-28 calendar. The first day for students that year is Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2027. See our schools guide.
  • City of Fort Myers offices: the city had not posted its 2027 holiday closures when we checked. City Hall: 239-321-7000.
  • Edison and Ford Winter Estates, 2350 McGregor Blvd.: open daily from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with last admission at 4:30 p.m., according to the estates’ website. 239-334-7419.

Things to do over the long weekend

  • Baseball: the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels play at Hammond Stadium from April to early September, according to Lee County, so Labor Day weekend comes at the end of the season. The 2027 schedule will be at milb.com/fort-myers.
  • Pools: the Fort Myers Aquatic Center, 1750 Matthew Drive, 239-321-7553, and Lee County’s community pools. See summer camps and pools.
