Parking and getting there

The city sends visitors to Denison Parking’s Fort Myers page for downtown garages and lots. Under a pilot program that runs through Oct. 31, 2026, the first two hours are free in the city’s three downtown garages; see our getting around guide for the current rules.

Fireworks at home

Florida law (section 791.08 of the Florida Statutes) lets people use consumer fireworks only on New Year’s Day, Independence Day (July 4) and New Year’s Eve. The law does not override local rules, and a recorded homeowners’ association covenant that bans fireworks still applies.

What this means for you

  • This page will be updated when the city posts its 2027 plans.
  • Everything in 2026 was free; parking is the main thing to plan.
  • Home fireworks are legal on July 4 only, unless your HOA covenant says otherwise.
