Enrollment zone and feeder schools

Lee County does not assign an elementary school by street address alone. Under the district’s 2026-27 Student Enrollment Plan (PDF), families rank the elementary schools in the proximity zone their address falls in, and the district guarantees a seat, with bus service, at a school with room in that zone. When a school has more applicants than seats, a lottery gives preference to students in special programs, then siblings, then homes within 2 miles of the school, then the school nearest the home. Students who live within 2 miles of their school are not bused. Any family may also request The Sanibel School, Pine Island Elementary or Fort Myers Beach Elementary, without district transportation.

Four elementary zones cover Fort Myers. Of the current address points the City of Fort Myers lists inside its limits (city GIS), about 46% fall in zone J, 42% in zone H, 9% in zone D and 2% in zone O on the district’s 2026-27 zone layer. Zone H has five schools, all inside the city: Allen Park, Edgewood Academy, Edison Park Creative and Expressive Arts, Franklin Park and Orangewood.

Feeder schools. The district does not publish feeder lists. Fifth graders rank the middle schools in their middle school zone; about 86% of Fort Myers addresses are in zone EE, with Fort Myers Middle and Paul Laurence Dunbar Middle. A younger sibling with the same parent and address is placed with an older one.

Changes approved. The School Board approved the 2026-27 enrollment plan on Dec. 1, 2025, the district’s zones page says. The plan’s main change was to high school busing; the elementary and middle proximity zones, in use since 2023-24 and 2024-25, continue.
