New in Fort Myers: the food businesses the state licensed in September, from Vinny's Pizza on Altamont Avenue to Chick-fil-A at Alico Road.

Last checked Oct. 8, 2026. This roundup is drawn from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s food service inspection file for District 7, downloaded Oct. 8, 2026 through the state’s public records page. It is rebuilt each month.

This is our first monthly look at what is new in Fort Myers. It starts with the food businesses the state inspected for a license in September 2026. A food-licensing inspection is the state’s check on a new or changed food service business, and it often comes just before opening day. Ribbon cuttings and other openings will join the list as the city and local business groups announce them.

“Food truck” marks a mobile food dispensing vehicle license; the rest are permanent food service licenses. Every inspection in the table ended with no further action except Sleep Inn & Suites, where the inspector issued a warning, which sets a deadline to correct violations and a return visit. How we build this list

  • State food licensing. We take every food-licensing inspection in the month from the state’s District 7 file where the county is Lee and the location city is Fort Myers. The file covers restaurants, cafes, caterers, hotel kitchens and food trucks; it does not cover shops that do not serve food.
  • What it is not. A licensing inspection is not an opening announcement. Some businesses open weeks later, and some are a change of owner at an existing restaurant.
  • Tell us. Opening a business in Fort Myers? Send us the name, address and opening date through our contact page and we will check it for next month’s list.

Starting a business in Fort Myers

  • Check you are in the city. Use the city’s Am I in the City? map. Unincorporated addresses deal with Lee County instead.
  • Zoning first. The city’s Planning Division reviews every business tax application for zoning compliance, so check that your use is allowed at the address before signing a lease.
  • State licenses. Restaurants and food trucks need a license from the Division of Hotels and Restaurants; many trades need one from the Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
  • Inspection history. See how Fort Myers food businesses fare in our restaurant inspections guide.

What this means for you

  • The state’s licensing records are the earliest public sign of a new restaurant.
  • Check the ZIP code: many “Fort Myers” businesses sit outside the city.
