Breeze Airways starts three nonstop routes from Fort Myers this week: Madison on Wednesday, Atlantic City on Thursday and Dayton, Ohio, on Friday. Days and fares.
Breeze Airways is starting three new nonstop routes from Southwest Florida International Airport this week. Flights to Madison, Wisconsin, began Wednesday. Atlantic City, New Jersey, starts Thursday, and Dayton, Ohio, starts Friday.
All three are new Breeze routes, and none of them is daily. Each flies two or three days a week.
The three routes
| Route | First flight | Days |
|---|---|---|
| Fort Myers to Madison, Wisconsin | Wednesday, Oct. 21 | Wednesdays and Saturdays |
| Fort Myers to Atlantic City, New Jersey | Thursday, Oct. 22 | Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays |
| Fort Myers to Dayton, Ohio | Friday, Oct. 23 | Mondays and Fridays |
The Madison dates come from Dane County Regional Airport’s announcement, published in March. The airport said it is the first time Breeze has flown the route.
The Atlantic City schedule is in the Breeze release announcing four new Atlantic City routes, issued May 2 and republished by Visit Atlantic City.
For Dayton, Breeze’s own Fort Myers to Dayton fare calendar showed its first departure Friday, Oct. 23, when we checked it Thursday. The flights after that fall on Mondays and Fridays.
Madison gets a second airline
Breeze is not the only carrier on the Madison route this winter. Sun Country Airlines returns to Fort Myers from Madison on Thursday, Dane County Regional Airport said. It will fly up to four times a week during the season.
The airport said the two airlines together give nearly 15% more nonstop service between Madison and Fort Myers than last season.
“Fort Myers is consistently one of the most popular warm-weather destinations for our community,” Mark Papko, executive director of Dane County Regional Airport, said in the announcement.
What the fares look like
Breeze publishes its lowest recent fares on each route page. When we checked them Thursday, the lowest one-way fares for November travel were:
- Dayton: from $59, on the Fort Myers to Dayton page
- Madison: from $79, on the Fort Myers to Madison page
- Atlantic City: from $89, on the Fort Myers to Atlantic City page
These are Breeze’s “No Flex” fares, its most basic ticket. Breeze says the figures were available within the previous 48 hours and may be gone by the time you book. Bags and seat choice cost extra.
Breeze’s Fort Myers page also lists Trenton, New Jersey, among its destinations. We could not confirm a start date for that route from Breeze’s own pages Thursday.
What it means for you
- If you have family in Wisconsin, Ohio or South Jersey, there is now a direct flight for part of the week. Check the days in the table before you plan a trip: none of the three routes flies daily.
- If you are flying Breeze from RSW for the first time, Breeze’s Fort Myers airport page says its ticket counter is next to JetBlue, through main terminal door 6. It opens two hours before departure and closes for checked bags 45 minutes before. Breeze passengers use the Concourse D security checkpoint, and the airline says it generally uses Gate D7.
- Getting to the airport without a car: LeeTran Route 50 runs to the airport. Our getting around Fort Myers guide has the bus, parking and airport phone numbers.
